History

Songgye

  • The NFCF originated from Songgye, a cooperative dating to the Joseon period

1940s

  • 1949. The Central Forestry Cooperative Federation, Provincial Forestry Federations, and Local Forestry Cooperatives were established.

1950s

  • 1952. In accordance with the Tentave Forest Protection Act, a local forestry association was established.

1960s

  • 1962. With the enactment of the Forest Act. amalgamated organizations were established : the Forestry Federation of Korea, Forestry Cooperatives, and the Forestry Association.

1980s

  • 1980. The independent Forest Cooperative Act was enacted, and the Forestry Federation of Korea was renamed the Central Federation of Forestry Cooperatives [CFFC]

1990s

  • 1993. The CFFC was reorganized as a forestry cooperative comprising forest owners and managers

2000s

  • 2000. In accordance with the government's reform plan on cooperatives, the CFFC was reorganized as the National Forestry Cooperatives Federation [NFCF]
